Do you have kids that are begging for a tree house? Mine have been bugging me for months now. Convincing me that any conservative tree house will do it is comforting to know that they don’t expect much. Or do they?
What do you picture when you think of tree house? Right! A wooden box somewhere wedged into a tree, with some windows to look out and a rope or makeshift ladder to climb. We used to build them with a few old wooden boards and nails, if we found a tree where branches look halfway healthy.
Looking back our structures were pretty unsafe, but we didn’t care. Our treehouses were handmade and we were proud of them. Since I don’t want to deprive my kids of this fun experience I told them to get online and start looking for some examples of what we could build. And looking they did.
When they presented me with their research result, our conservative tree house turned into a monster of a project if it was up to them. You gotta see what they have in mind. It blew my mind.
The Tree House my Kids Requested to Build
I do like this crocket treehouse design. Looks like out of a fun cartoon movie.
A castle in a tree is every kids dream. And don’t forget the suspended rope net walkway to keep unbalanced people out of the treehouse. A zip line is the other way to get there. Yeah, total privacy.
Unfortunately we don’t have a tree this big to make the tree the treehouse. Pretty sure it would kill a 200 year old tree if we had one.
How about a 3 story treehouse. Should be easy right? Apparently my kids don’t know much about building, but I am flattered they think I am this much of a talent.
Now this is something to consider. His and Her’s tree house and maybe a drawbridge in the middle in case they don’t get along one day.
Of course what would a tree house be without a hot tub? Nowadays all treehouses are wired for electricity and plumbing is readily available to throw a tub onto the deck. I can do that 🙂
I told them unless they want to move out, this one is not an option. I could live in this treehouse. But this is something to consider for the lake or a farm setting.
And for this one we would have to hire a builder but it sure would look lovely in the woods behind our house. I may never see my kids again of maybe this could be a hideaway for me 🙂
I had to explain a few things to the kids. For starters we don’t have the monstrous trees needed for a huge house in the tree, neither am I a builder. I appreciate the confidence but NO. I gave them a new objective. Something for smaller tree and more economical. Well here is what I got back.
Custom Tree House Designs
Wow, this is one I would have loved as a kid. I am not a carpenter and don’t think it’s an option, but for a fee The Grayson Tree House is made to order and can be completely customized.
Put your hand deep into your pocket and you can have this amazing and magical tree house. The Tinkerbell Tree House comes with custom concrete Tree, working water wheel and pond, large 20 ft of deck space, multiple whimsical shacks, interior package including lighting, finished interior, and fairy tale furniture. Unit also has bunk beds and sleeps 5 kids.
The Fish Camp Shanty Tree House has door access to ladder inside up to hatch in floor or shack, leaves, knot hole windows with whimsical roof and porch area, bark peels and choice of name carving into tree. Shack is a oversized 7×9 shack with 4×7 porch all in a whimsical rustic theme, includes rustic package with metal roof and antique décor and signage.
The easiest way to put up a treehouse is to put it on beams. The treehouse is elevated, just not by a tree. I think it still qualifies.
Learning how to build a treehouse is a lucrative business. Tree houses for kids are not so simple to put together. To build a simple tree house it takes some serious understanding of constructing. While I still like to build a backyard tree house, hiring a carpenter to put up the major construction may be a safer solution. Details such as painting, decorating adding ladders and ropes and climbing walls can be our DIY Project. What do you think of the Tree Houses we found?
